Many times throughout my career I have been tasked with choosing training providers for delivering mandatory compliance training, skills development training and professional development training for my teams of support workers, case managers and service coordinators. Each time I researched the market and wondered what I should be looking for in a training partner.

When launching Empowability we thought long and hard about what a Disability Service Provider would need from a training partner in order to provide quality refresher training to their staff and we think we have ticked all of the boxes.

To help you decide on whether Empowability is the right choice for your organisation I have put together a list of six questions to ask when selecting a Training Partner and answered them from Empowability’s perspective.

What is the total cost of the training package?

Our courses are priced for the sector! We are very aware of the disruption caused by the rollout of the NDIS and understand that disability service providers have less money available for operating costs including staff training and we have priced our courses accordingly. We work on a ‘per user’ price for the whole Empowability package hosted on our LMS so there are no additional costs or hidden charges. Our Induction course as a stand alone course that is not included in the Empowability package and is priced according to the amount of customisation requested.

Is the content aligned with accredited units of competency?

We are not a Registered Training Organisation.We provide refresher modules of Disability eLearning for Support Workers who are already working in the sector or are new to the sector but already have their recognised qualification. When writing the eLearning content we align our content with the Certificate III in Individual Support.

Can the content be customised?

We offer our courses with the ‘Empowability’ branding, which is beautiful, crisp and modern, however, we understand that some organisations want their learning package branded with their logo and colours and we will happily do this when requested. We also have the capability to change the content to meet your organization’s policies, procedures or work instructions, if required.

Has the company provided training to the sector before?

Empowability is a brand new disability eLearning company and while we have not previously provided training to the sector under the Empowability brand all partners in the business have provided sector training in other roles and organisations.

What is the relevant ‘vocational’ experience of the trainers?

We have a combined total of 39 years experience in both the Disability and Learning and Development sectors and access to a wide range of industry leading subject matter experts that we call on when we feel that we a helping hand. Our experience is made up of 12 years providing direct support and managing teams in the physical disability space, 10 years directly supporting children and adolescents in the ASD space and 17 years in the learning and development sector. Our instructional designer and course developer is an adult learning and digital media expert who has consulted for some of the largest companies around the world.

Will the learners receive any ‘take-away’ resources?

Our disability eLearning modules are delivered via an app like platform that means as long the learner has a wifi connection or mobile reception they have access to the information they need. Each module is fully searchable so Empowability is there to answer the learners questions whenever they need it. We also award learners with digital badges for completing modules and tasks making the ‘training’ that the learner has completed transferable to other organisations.
